Cumming man convicted in death of boy, 2

A Cumming man was convicted Wednesday of murder in the the death of his girlfriend's 2-year-old son.

Forsyth County Superior Court Chief Judge Jeffrey S. Bagley sentenced Christopher Brian Gilreath, 41, to life in prison, with at least 30 years to serve, Chief Assistant District Attorney Sandra Partridge told the AJC on Thursday.

Joshua Pinckney was found dead in his bed in February 2009. Autopsy reports showed he suffered multiple blows to the head.

His mother, Miriam Pinckney, pleaded guilty Aug. 4 to first-degree cruelty to children for failing to get aid, Partridge said. She was sentenced to five years and is currently in the Forsyth County Jail.
