Federal Jury Convicts Boerne Man on Child Pornography Charges

John E. Murphy, Acting U.S. Attorney, announced that a federal jury in San Antonio this afternoon found 57-year-old Steven Lynn Mouton of Boerne, Texas, guilty of producing child pornography and possessing child pornography. As a result, Mouton faces between 15 and 30 years in federal prison on the production conviction and up to 10 years in federal prison on the possession conviction.

Testimony elicited at trial revealed that between August 2007 and October 2007, Mouton caused a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of such activity. On October 18, 2007, authorities seized his computer from his home. A forensic examination of the computer revealed images of child pornography in addition to evidence that the defendant used a digital camera as well as his computer to produce images of child pornography.

Mouton remains in federal custody. Sentencing is scheduled for 1:30pm on January 13, 2010, before United States District Judge Xavier Rodriguez.

This investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation together with the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and the San Antonio Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Tracy Thompson Braun and Sarah Wannarka are prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
