Oct. 25--Police have arrested a Sacramento woman on suspicion of murdering her 17-month-old foster daughter.

Tamekca Walker, 34, was arrested Tuesday, said Sacramento Police Officer Konrad Von Schoech.

Walker is being without bail in Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of murder and felony assault resulting in the death of a child under 8 years old, according to online jail information.

The investigation began after the infant's death Monday. Officers were called to the home in the 7500 block of Muirfield Way after firefighters responded to a call of a non-responsive infant.

The infant was pronounced dead at an area hospital, he said.

Sacramento County Coroner's officials identified the infant Thursday as Tamaihia Lynae Moore. Her cause of death is not being released.

An autopsy concluded that Moore's death was a homicide and investigators determined that Walker allegedly caused the baby's death, Von Schoech said. Evidence of alleged abuse and neglect also was discovered during the investigation, he said.

Sacramento County Child Protective Services removed two other foster children from the home and Walker's day care operation has been shut down, he said.

Walker did not have any complaints on her record as a licensed foster parent and day-care provider, CPS officials previously told The Bee.

Walker is scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon in Sacramento County Superior Court.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP or (800) AA-CRIME. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
