Pre-trial hearing held for Brooksville couple

A Brooksville couple accused of starving a 10-year-old girl in their care were in court for a pre-trial hearing Friday.

Arthur and Lori Allain were arrested in June and pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect.

Investigators with the Department of Children and Families said the couple kept the girl locked in a room to keep her half-brother from giving her food.

Lawyers alongside the Allains tried to get the state to release evidence the couple said would back their story.

A judge ruled for another pre-trial hearing September 24.
