SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina couple has been sentenced to 30 years each in prison for neglecting three boys in their care.

Multiple media outlets report that Molly and Scott McCurry of Lyman were sentenced Thursday after being found guilty of three counts each of child abuse and unlawful conduct toward a child.

The McCurrys were arrested in July 2006 after police discovered their three adopted sons were severely malnourished. Authorities said the boys, ages 5, 7 and 8, weighed between 19 and 39 pounds each.

The boys were taken into protective custody. Authorities said they had also been burned and bruised.

Neighbors and others said they rarely if ever saw the couple's boys. The couple's 10-year-old daughter was not malnourished.
