Fourth arrest in connection with historical abuse enquiry

FOURTH ARREST IN CONNECTION WITH HISTORICAL ABUSE ENQUIRY

RELEASED TO MEDIA AT 8.50 AM ON THURSDAY 12 JUNE 2008

The States of Jersey Police can confirm that a 50 year old man was arrested in Jersey this morning in connection with the ongoing historical abuse enquiry.

This is the fourth arrest to have been made as part of the enquiry.

The man has been arrested in connection with the investigation into serious crimes  at Haut de la Garenne and elsewhere in Jersey. He was arrested at approximately 6.40 am this morning.

The States of Jersey Police can confirm that a number of searches are also being carried out in connection with this arrest and the historical abuse enquiry today.

No further details – including the man’s name – will be given unless charges follow.
