Trial starts in foster child death

What: The trial of a foster mom accused of killing her infant foster child began Tuesday.

Kathy Jean Scott pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder and willful cruelty to a child under age 8.

It was March 2004 when 4-month-old Eduardo Calzada was found dead at his foster home in southwest Bakersfield, the apparent victim of skull fractures.

It took another year before police arrested Scott.
