Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the Saturday death of a 3-year-old girl whose parents said she suffered trauma after falling down six stairs.

The child’s parents called 911 to report that the girl was not breathing about 11:50 a.m. An ambulance took her to Wilford Hall Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, deputies said.

The parents told investigators the girl fell down the steps about 4 p.m. Friday.

“They said the child had a knot on her forehead that they treated with Tylenol on Friday,” said Deputy Ino Badillo, a Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

Medical examiners have not ruled on a cause of death.

Child Protective Services has placed the girl’s siblings in other homes while deputies investigate her death.
