Saying that "what you did to those kids is sick," Judge Theresa Cisneros sentenced a Colorado Springs father Tuesday to four years in prison for forcing his adopted son to live in a windowless room beneath the stairs with only a blanket and a bucket to use as a toilet.

A month ago, Cisneros sentenced the man's former wife to two years in jail. The father pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor child-abuse and one felony theft charge. Cisneros sentenced him for the theft charge, which carried more prison time.
