CLINTON - A Jan. 29 hearing will determine whether statements a child-abuse suspect made to police will be admitted at his trial.
Michael A. VanHyning, 24, of Clinton was charged in June with three counts of aggravated battery of a child.
He is accused of causing serious internal injuries to 16-month-old Cameron VanHyning at the family's home on June 23. The child was hospitalized for several weeks with internal injuries.
The motion to be heard on Jan. 29 alleges that the defendant was not notified of certain rights, including the right to remain silent, consult an attorney and have an attorney present during questioning.
A jury trial scheduled for September was postponed pending a decision on the motion to suppress VanHyning's statements
