Autopsy Expected In Boy's Death At Foster Home
Police Say They Have Evidence Of Sexual Assault
August 17, 2006
An autopsy for a 2-year-old boy found dead in a Detroit foster home will be performed on Thursday.
The boy had bruises on his face, burn marks on his chest and there was evidence that he had been sexually assaulted, police said. The child was dead on arrival at Children's Hospital Wednesday, according to police. Emergency crews said the toddler stopped breathing.
Police said some of the child's injuries are old and some are new.
The child was living at the foster home for more than a month along with his 4-year-old sister, according to police. Investigators took an iron and other evidence from the home Wednesday evening, Local 4 reported.
The six other children in the house -- ranging in age from 4 to 17 years old -- were being relocated to a youth home. Two of the children were the woman's grandchildren, Local 4 reported.
Friends and family of the 58-year-old woman who runs the foster home said she would not hurt anyone and is a loving person.
