LV man faces child pornography charges

A 44-year-old Las Vegas man was arrested last week on a slew of charges including incest, sexual assault against a minor and possession of child pornography.

Juan Rodenas was booked Wednesday into the Clark County Detention Center on 43 recommended charges stemming from the accusation he sexually assaulted two relatives, one of them under 14.

According to a police report, police began investigating Rodenas on May 31 after he took his computer into a Best Buy near Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road for service. Workers at the Best Buy told police they found images on his computer of a naked girl who appeared to be 9 or 10.

The workers also found a picture of Rodenas laying naked beside the girl, the report says.

When Rodenas dropped off the computer, he told a Best Buy worker his son downloads a lot of pornographic images onto the computer.

During the police investigation, they found additional explicit images on Rodenas' computer, including pictures of a naked relative under the age of 14. Police also found other pictures in which Rodenas was participating in sex acts with the girl, the report says.

The report also said police found graphic images of a 7-year-old girl believed to be a relative in Guatemala.

Before his arrest, Rodenas lived at his home with his wife and seven children, six of whom are minors, according to police.

Christine Skorupski, a spokeswoman with Clark County Family Services said under Nevada Law she could not disclose whether Rodenas' family had any history with the agency. Skorupski said state law only allows such information to be disclosed if a child has died or was severely injured under the care of family.

Police would not comment on Rodenas' case Monday.

Rodenas was being held in the county jail on $430,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Justice Court.
