MEETING WITH HELPING HANDS MEDIATION AGENCY ON 14 TH AUGUST
Posted 15th September2006

A meeting was held with Sharon O’ Driscoll of HHMA on 14 August.

The following are the main points:
• Transfer of documents from My Linh Soland: Paper work is being transferred from MyLinh Soland to the HHMA. Individuals are being advised once the dossier is received. This has been a slow process but we are happy to say that it is nearing it end.
• Keeping Documents in Date: HHMA will send updated documents in advance to be translated to help speed up the process when you get to Vietnam. Note: Medicals, Police clearance, income all have to be within six months of date of issue. Declaration, letter of introduction and immigration clearance need to be within 6 weeks of expiry when traveling to Vietnam.
• Chlidrens Dossiers: In the past adoptive parents got papers translated themselves. This is now being done by HHMA in Vietnam and given to parents before going home.
• Medicals: With all new referrals parents shall be given a full medical report on the child being referred. Tests shall be carried out in the French clinic. Prospective parents will be given a copy of the results to be reviewed with their GP before accepting a referral.
• Paperwork (future): Dr Long has advised that discussions are taking place to extend police clearance to 12 months. Confirmation pending on this.
