The Gladney Center Opens a New Adoption Program in Bulgaria

FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Gladney Center for Adoption is pleased to announce the opening of our newest inter-country adoption program in Bulgaria. This small Southeastern European country is nestled between the two popular tourist destinations of Romania and Turkey. For over a century, the Bulgarian people have maintained an unchanging rural life and are a largely conservative and traditional society.

The Bulgarian people are disciplined in hard work and education with one of the highest literacy rates in the world. Unfortunately, unemployment is a major issue the country faces and many families cannot adequately provide for their children. Although the government is providing orphanage care, there are thousands of children who have been relinquished or abandoned at birth. The Gladney Center for Adoption is proud to partner with an accredited Bulgarian Agency to help place these children in loving and permanent homes.

There are approximately 8,700 orphans in Bulgaria. Although it would be ideal for all of these children to be placed in a home, the likelihood is not possible. Gladney is committed to providing for these children through Gladney’s humanitarian aid programs. These programs are dedicated to improving the orphans’ quality of life while providing basic needs such as clothing, food, medication and education programs.
