Hi all,

I wanted to write to let all families know that as of July 25, 2007,
I will no longer be working with Faith International Adoptions or the
Nepal adoption program. This is an extremely awkward time to leave
with everything going on in Nepal, I know. I have stayed a few months
past my original departure date in hopes that I could help in some
way with the current suspension of adoptions. I do believe that Faith
International has had a leading role in advocating for all the
families and children involved in the adoption process and hope to
see progress very soon. As such, my departure date is now a static
one.

As a few of you may know (as I have run across many of you while
working in Nepal), I have started my own nonprofit working on behalf
of children in need around the world. This project has been extremely
successful in the sheer number of children we are providing care for
and has turned in to a full time endeavor. As such, it is taking time
away from my interaction with families here at Faith. In the end, the
potential cost to families is too great as my ability to work at
Faith with the same level of attentiveness, caring and diligence may
be diluted as the ever consuming responsibilities and travel of my
other job dominate much of my time and focus. This new job involves a
huge paycut, more time away from my family traveling, and more time
at work, so please know that it is not on toward a higher plateau for
me...

I have spent the last several years of my life living and breathing
this Nepal adoption program and I hope you all know I do not make
this transition lightly. My time with the families has been, quite
simply, amazing and my work with these children has changed me in
many ways- ultimately leading me to work in other charitable areas to
provide for other children who need a helping hand. Although my path
is leading me away from the adoption world, I will still be working
day and night on behalf of children in need and I hope all the
families can understand that, although my focus may have shifted, my
commitment to these amazing children remains unchanged and guides my
every waking moment.

Thanks for your understanding on this. I have appreciated my time
with all of the families and learned a great deal from your adoption
journeys. Thank you for letting me share in your joy of uniting with
your children. I hope I have been helpful along the way.

On some final notes: please don't believe everything you hear right
now. Until a public statement is made by the Minister, nothing is
definitive. I know that many families were quite concerned by the
adoptionnepal article recently. I still stand by my earlier post that
we should see positive movement soon- not out of sheer hope, but
because I know how many people, organizations and advocates, both
domestic and international, are pushing for positive movement and how
much is going on that families may not be privy to. Have faith in the
process, even when it is near impossible to do so. This has never
been an easy program and probably never will be even after the laws
change- but things do move forward, families are united with their
children, and the process does work. Hard as hell to see it in the
midst of such massive ups and downs and constant conflicting
accounts, but this is, in the end, an amazing country to adopt from
and parents who do so are very fortunate, indeed.

I look forward to seeing many of you with your children as the years
unfold and our paths cross...

Please let me know of any questions you may have.

Best, Eric
