On Tuesday, August 13, 1996 The Los Angeles Times reported: "FBI Hunting for Mexican Infant Believed Abducted in Tijuana by an American Man and Woman", and this has led La Voz de Aztlan to undertake an investigation into horrifying rumors that a network of "Baby Organ Snatchers" was operating in various cities along the U.S.-Mexico border. The news article reported that 20 year old Victorina Ramirez Salazar, a Mixtec Indian mother from Tijuana had informed FBI authorities that an American couple had abducted her 20 day old daughter and taken her to California. Jan Caldwell, a spokesman for the FBI in San Diego said. "We have every reason to believe the child was abducted". Bob Jordan, the FBI supervisor in charge said the agency previuosly had reports about a woman spotted in Tijuana looking for babies. "That would lead me to believe that this woman is down in Tijuana trolling around , looking for victims and kids", Mr. Jordan said. U.S. and Mexican federal agents get numerous cross-border child abductions cases each year and countless cases of child disappearances in Tijuana. Most of the children are very poor and of Mexican Indian descent. Most of the mothers speak very little Spanish and are afraid of the auhorities.
What the Times article did not mention is the overwhelming concern by "Children Rights" groups in Mexico that these babies and young children are being abducted for their organs and transplantable tissues. Mr. Wilfredo Guzman, spokesman for the Mexican Center for Children Rights stated: " there are many children in the United States waiting for organs in order to survive. Therefore, dozens of Mexican midwives, nurses, doctors, lawyers, judges and even clerics, participate as accomplices in the theft of children from whom organs are extracted at clandestine clinics on the U.S.-Mexico border. The organs are transplanted to rich children right there!". Victor Perera, a well known author, said "the baby trade is so lucrative.....that a baby can bring as much as $10,000 ...that corrupt government officials are known to take part in it. One of the largest rings is allegedly headed by a top government official. Attempts to prosecute him have failed because of his parliamentary immunity, not to mention his influence over the court system and its judges". The existence of a U.S.-Mexico "organ mafia" has silenced journalists in Mexico but one courageous Member of the Mexican Congress, Hector Ramirez Cuellar, has stated that he knows a child in his district who was kidnapped, had a kidney removed, and then was returned home with two thousand dollars. Mr. Cuellar said that he has information that points to a U.S.-Mexico connection and that the rings deals in children livers, hearts, corneas, kidneys, pancreas and other tissues.
In a March 21, 1994 issue of Proceso, Mexico's prestigious weekly magazine, who tracked the baby-trafficking story for months, interviewed Eric Sottas, President of the Geneva-based World Organization Against Torture, who confirmed the existence of international rings that kidnap "children, not only for illegal adoptions, pornographic activities and child prostitution, but for the purpose of trafficking in organs.". The Sottas Report was a result of a three-year investigation with the colloboration of 200 human-rights agencies.
Among many horrors, the report lists 17 clinics in Tijuana and Juarez , on Mexico's U.S. border, that perform sophisticated transplants of kidneys and corneal tissues from kidnaped children to wealthy North Americans who pay top prices for the operations, no questions asked . Most of these children are not heard from again!
This shameful situation exists for the same reasons that "narcotrafico" exists and that is that wealthy North-Americans are willing to pay top dollar not only for Heroin and Cocaine but also for "Baby Organs". This is the corrupting influence of the dollar in Mexico and it is taking its toll on innocent children!
