ADOPTION PROGRAM

ETHIOPIAN ADOPTION PROGRAM

So, you are interested in adopting a child from Ethiopia!  Ethiopia's people are warm and hopeful despite extreme poverty.  The children are full of fun and very delightful.  The three orphanages that YWAM exclusively works with have spent time praying over each child and identifying the ones they feel would benefit the most and adjust the best to life in the United States.  Our Ethiopian staff, as well as our stateside staff, have been praying for just the right family to fit each child identified for adoption.  Might you be the answer?

Adoption Ministry of YWAM-Ethiopia submitted a proposal to the Ethiopian government to become a licensed adoption agency.  As of December 2007, the government has put a moratorium on licensing any new agencies for an undisclosed period of time.  However, we have established a YWAM Program with Children's House International (a licensed international agency) to place the waiting children who are currently living at YWAM's Community Outreach Program, Joseph's Children's Home and the Orphans and Widow's Home into sound Christian homes here in the US.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ADOPT?

     • Strong Christians attending traditional Christian churches
(required by the orphanages we work with listed above)

     • Heterosexual couples (with or without children) who have been
         married at least 2-1/2 years

     • Single women over the age of 25

     • Those who have good medical insurance that will immediately
cover your child once he/she is adopted

     • Families who have sufficient income

     • Couples with a strong marriage and low divorce history

     • Not more than 45 years older than the youngest child you adopt

     • No history of criminal activity or incidence of child abuse

WHY CHOOSE US?

You are deciding which international adoption program is the best fit for you.  There are many good, ethical agencies working in Ethiopia and you need to determine which one will work best for your family.  Why would you choose to work with an agency who is using a partnering agency to do the actual court work in Ethiopia?  Consider the areas that make Adoption Ministry of YWAM-Ethiopia unique:

We know the children we are working with.  We are not out in the countryside searching for children that need families.  The children in the three orphanages we work with have lived there for some time.  The staff has nurtured and discipled them, lived with them and understands their individual personalities.  When they identify a child that fits our adoption criteria, they know that it will be bittersweet for them when that child leaves, because a part of their family will move away.  We, perhaps better than most, will know the child you might consider for adoption.

We have a single focus.  Internationally, we work exclusively in Ethiopia.  God has opened the doors for ministry in Ethiopia and we have walked through them in obedience to His call.  The adoption and humanitarian programs we have set up are solid and the people heading these programs are trustworthy men and women of integrity.  Our adoption program with Children's House International will offer you the best support!  You will benefit from the years of experience CHI brings to the table and you will link arms with Youth With A Mission, a very reputable international missionary organization that will walk every step of the way with you, covering every aspect of the adoption in prayer.

♦ You will know exactly where and how your fees are spent.  All of our stateside staff are full-time missionaries with Youth With A Mission and raise their own support.  No money goes toward salaries.  You will have the satisfaction of knowing your adoption fees that CHI pays to YWAM will directly benefit your child's orphanage and help other children find families like yours.  A portion of your funds will be spent on our humanitarian programs assisting the poor.  You pay fees directly to CHI and those fees are clearly outlined and can be viewed in the document CHI Financial Agreement on our Application page.  YWAM receives about $5,000 of those fees to fund our humanitarian programs:

     • YWAM Community Outreach in Addis Ababa

     • Joseph's Children's Home in Nazaret

     • Orphan and Widows' Home in Nazaret

You will receive personal attention.  We target and are appealing to a very narrow segment of the population - those who have a strong Christian faith.  Our domestic adoption program can attest to the fact that when you adopt through our agency you become family forever.  You will be one of a handful of families we work with at any one time.

     • At any time you can pick up the phone and talk to the
director to get answers to your questions.

     • Our humanitarian programs are clearly outlined and our ongoing
vision will be shared with you frequently.

     • We build relationships with our families, pray for them
individually and communicate with them often.

     • You will receive thoughtful, personalized and professional
service at each step of the adoption process.

You will have a personal planner coordinating your time in Ethiopia.

      • You will be met at the airport by our in-country representative,
          Abebe Getachew

     • Transportation arrangements will be made to your
         specifications, including a driver

     • A guest house or hotel will be recommended and
        arrangements made

     • Abebe will arrange for travel to your child's orphanage, take you there
        personally and introduce you
