Children's Home Society & Family Services Announces Another Year of Growth in International Adoption

public

ST. PAUL, Minn., and SILVER SPRING, Md., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire

Children's Home Society & Family Services (CHSFS), a global child welfare organization, announces another year of growth in the number of children placed into permanent homes through its adoption services: 843 children from 13 countries, including 88 from the U.S. Despite much-publicized delays and eligibility changes in prominent adoption programs such as China, Russia and Guatemala, CHSFS' international adoption placement numbers rose and have risen for the past 3 years. Much of the growth is attributed to the rapid rise of the Ethiopia program, CHSFS' fastest-growing program in its 119 years of providing adoption services.

CHSFS continually explores partnerships to meet the ever-increasing needs of millions of orphans and abandoned children worldwide. Recently, CHSFS began a partnership with Mexico to provide homes for children over the age of 3; several other partnerships are far into the development stages. CHSFS is committed to providing child-welfare services above and beyond adoption, including basic needs, health care, education and infrastructure; and CHSFS' services in these areas are increasing and expanding.

"A permanent home, support and safety are what make a child thrive," says Madonna King, President and CEO of CHSFS. "We are committed to standing by the child who would otherwise stand alone."
