The 13th Informal Working Conference of European Central Authorities for Inter-Country adoption

On the first day the outcomes of the questionnaires for Central Authorities of Receiving States and States of Origin were discussed. Also The Hague Conference Technical Assistance Program – report of visit to Guatemala and other developments, Study on the Kafala. realised by ISS IRC, have been introduced. The participants of the Conference appreciated the discussion of daily problems that they face cooperating with other Countries in Intercountry adoption.
   During the second day the programs for preparation of adoptive parents were introduced by Swedish and Luxembourg representatives. All the participants shared information on adoption services that are being offered to prospective adoptive parents. Latvia introduced the research on adoptive children preparation.
   Representatives from International Social Service and Lithuania presented the topic on Search of Origin. Many important issues were discussed, including the series of steps that adopted person has to take in order to revive his/her pre-adoptive past. In the end of the Conference ChildonEurope representatives presented the “Guidelines on post adoption services”.
   During the Conference the Central Authority of Cyprus was proposed to hold the next 14th Informal Working Conference of European Central Authorities for Inter-Country adoption. However, the Central Authority of Cyprus could not confirm that they could do that, but promised to provide with an answer in the nearest future.
