Camillus, N.Y. — A Camillus woman was charged Tuesday with strangling, neglecting and abusing an 11-year-old boy, deputies said.
The 44-year-old woman handcuffed the boy to a bed frame, forced him to sleep on the floor and would not feed him for days at a time, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Jon Seeber said.
The boy was taken to a local hospital for malnourishment, he said.
Susan Orendorf, 44, of Knowell Road, was charged with second-degree unlawful imprisonment and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Seeber said.
Orendorf strangled the boy, disciplined him and degraded him, Seeber said. The acts were done repeatedly, he said.
The boy reported the abuse to a school resource officer from the Camillus Police Department in the West Genesee School District, Seeber said.
The boy is now in the custody of the Onondaga County Department of Children and Family Services, he said.
Orendorf was held in the Onondaga County Justice Center Tuesday awaiting arraignment in Centralized Arraignment Court, Seeber said.
Deputies are asking anyone with information about the abuse to contact them at 315-435-3092.
