Federal Grant Provides New Embryo Donation and Adoption Resources
New Program Manager Will Oversee Grant Operations
FULLERTON, Calif. -- Education about embryo donation and adoption can now come in the form of videos, Web conferences and e-mail forums all thanks to a federal grant. The education program is part of a proposed two-year campaign by Nightlight(TM) Christian Adoptions (Nightlight) to communicate the benefits of this newest family building option. Nightlight was the first adoption agency to offer these services through their Snowflakes([R]) Frozen Embryo Adoption Program (Snowflakes).
"With the new grant comes more possibilities to educate and communicate the opportunities available for families looking to adopt," said Ronald Stoddart, executive director for Nightlight Christian Adoptions. "We will be able to increase awareness through a variety of outreach efforts - using Internet communications, participating in fertility conferences and providing marketing support."
This is Nightlight's fourth consecutive grant to increase awareness of embryo donation and adoption. Previous campaigns involved the development of a web site, educational videos, newspaper and magazine articles, fertility clinic outreach and research projects. The current campaign brings a higher level of sophistication by:
* Conducting a nation-wide law student essay competition on an issue relevant to embryo donation and adoption
* Producing a series of informative and provocative videos suitable for multi-level distribution by e-mail and on internet sites
* Establishing a legal panel to provide a comprehensive analysis of current laws and cases nation-wide affecting embryo donation and adoption
* Providing a resource to the media for access to families who have donated or adopted embryos
Nightlight has opened an office in Loveland, Colorado and hired a project manager dedicated to the efficient conduct of the campaign. Kimberly Tyson joins the organization as Program Manager with marketing and operations experience in the medical, education and general business sectors. She has a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in business administration with a minor in political science.
Nightlight's success in expanding awareness of embryo donation and adoption has resulted in several new providers of these services. With nearly 500,000 embryos stored in cryo-banks throughout the United States, Nightlight continues to assist interested medical and adoption organizations in expanding the opportunities for donating or adopting embryos. Snowflakes is operated out of the agency's California offices and continues to be the leader and innovator in embryo adoption services.
