Black and White Thinking
I hate, yes, HATE when therapists say Black and White Thinking is "wrong". It proves what idiots they really are when discussing emotional issues with a person not ready to think and feel. If black is all color and white is the absence of color... what's in-between is NOT gray, but rather the colors of the rainbow. Roy G Biv. Red, orange, yellow, Green, Blue, indigo, violet. The spectrum is endless, in it's own limited way. (All one has to do is look at a box of crayons to see THAT!)
Colored-Thinking is an odd favorite topic of mine. Just as Animals help describe a person's inner essence, I think the color a person likes says a lot about his/her personality, as well.
For instance, the color Pink for me is without a doubt, my favorite color. However, not ANY Pink will do it for me. No. It has to be Bubble-Gum Pink. THIS PINK... (sorta)
Pink. It represents innocence, like a Baby Girl. It's sweet, soft, kind and demure. It's love, happiness, kindness, newness and all that's feminine. It's a Mommy's Love and a Daddy's heart., wrapped in hugs and kisses It's all that defines greatness in the future... as it symbolizes Sweet, New Life.
Pink is my all-time favorite color... but it's not The ONLY Favorite Color I have. After all, given all the shades and hues of the rainbow, how could a person possibly choose only ONE as A Favorite?
That's like asking a Mom: Choose your one and only favorite Child.
Anyway, here's a sample of what colors do to me, and how they help me change the way I feel....
Red -- Sumptuous, provocative, alluring and enduring.
It's the color of blood, life and richness.
I look good in red, but I have to be in the mood to wear it. It's too strong a color for me sometimes. I need to be feeling bold and confident to pull it off.
It's not a color I wear often.
Purple -- Royal, regal, smart, and powerful
I LOVE wearing all different shades of purple and lavender.
It's the next-best thing to Pink.
Purple is a man's world with a sweet female touch, and I feel smart and pretty when I'm wearing a shade of purple.
Orange -- Unexpected, underappreciated, fun and different
I used to hate the color orange, until it became my son's favorite color. When I'm feeling spirited and playful, I'll wear orange... but I really have to be in the mood to get away with it.
Brown -- warmth, depth, inviting and comforting
I LOVE wearing brown, but I forget that all the time. I feel like my most natural self when I wear brown... and in a way, that makes me speechless.
