Washington, DC – September 19, 2007 – The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) is pleased to announce Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN) as their new Congressional Director on their Board of Directors. Effective today, Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN), Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Congresswoman Brown-Waite (R-FL), and Congressman James Oberstar (D-MN) serve as both the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption and the Congressional Directors of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute. The Congressional Coalition on Adoption is Congress’ largest bicameral, bipartisan Caucus with 211 Members.
Since taking office, Senator Coleman has worked closely with his Congressional colleagues to improve federal adoption laws including, most recently, the passage of a provision sponsored by Senators Coleman (R-MN) and Landrieu (D-LA) that would allow for an adopted foster child’s college financial aid eligibility to be determined solely by their ability to pay, regardless of his or her adoptive family’s income level. Senator Coleman is a member of the Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee, the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the Foreign Relations Committee, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
