Newcastle foster carer charged with indecent assault of girl

A foster carer in Newcastle has been charged with the indecent assault of a young girl in his care.

Police say a 10-year-old girl yesterday reported she had been indecently assaulted by her foster carer on Saturday night.

Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad launched an investigation and a 57-year-old man was last night arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault.

He was granted conditional bail and will face Belmont Local Court next month.

The girl was removed from his care.
