Deployed National Guard Major Facing 17 Child Sex-Related Charges

MARYSVILLE, Ohio - A father and active-duty Ohio National Guard Major was officially indicted on charges of rape, sexual battery and gross sexual imposition in connection with allegedly sexually abusing children in his care.

According to the indictment, which was filed in Union County on Monday, Jean Paul Kruse is charged with 17 counts – five counts of rape, five counts of sexual battery, six counts of gross sexual imposition and one count of intimidation of an attorney, victim or witness in a criminal case.

According to the indictment, the alleged offenses occurred between October 2006 and August 2012 and involve three children.

The indictment states that the 40-year-old Kruse engaged in sexual conduct with children in his then Marysville home.

According to a Marysville Division of Police incident report from Aug. 13, 2012, the Union County Children Services reported allegations of alleged sexual abuse happening in his home.

According to a published report, the couple lived with biological children, step-children and adopted children.

All of the children have been removed from the home.

Jean Paul Kruse currently is deployed to Kuwait on active duty, according to the Ohio National Guard.

His wife, Emily Kruse, is also charged with two counts of intimidation of an attorney, victim or witness in a criminal case and one count of obstructing justice.
