В Главном следственном управлении Следственного комитета Российской Федерации продолжается расследование уголовных дел о гибели на территории США с 1998 по 2003 годы усыновленных российских детей: Анастасии Плотниковой, Дмитрия Ишанкулова и Анны Почётной. Обстоятельства смерти этих детей тщательно проверяются следствием.
Согласно полученным из США материалам, Анастасия Плотникова погибла от рук приёмной матери, которая, находясь в ванной комнате, уронила ребёнка. В результате падения девочка ударилась головой, после чего скончалась. Смерть Анны Почётной наступила от действий приёмной матери, толкнувшей руками девочку, которая ударилась головой о стену и получила черепно-мозговую травму. Смерть Дмитрия Ишанкулова наступила также в результате преступных действий приёмных американских родителей, которые опустили мальчика в ванну с горячей водой, а затем на три дня поместили в холодный подвал. В результате ребенок скончался от термических ожогов и переохлаждения.
Установлено, что по фактам гибели Плотниковой, Ишанкулова и Почётной американскими властями проведены уголовные расследования, и в отношении виновных уже вынесены судебные вердикты. Для объективной проверки всех обстоятельств гибели российских детей по поручению руководства СК России сотрудниками Посольства России в США в рабочем порядке запрошены копии всех материалов по указанным уголовным делам. Расследование обстоятельств гибели на территории США российских детей продолжается.
