A former Gainesville pastor was sentenced on child-sex charges to 28 years on Friday. The former preacher was convicted in connection with allegations he had sex with his youngest adopted daughter fathered his oldest adopted daughter's baby. The Rev. James Sykes of Ocala says the former pastor, his friend, will be appealing the sentence.

A former Gainesville pastor was sentenced on child-sex charges to 28 years on Friday.
The former preacher was convicted in connection with allegations he had sex with his youngest adopted daughter in the study where he wrote his sermons and fathered his oldest adopted daughter's baby.
On Friday, two years after the allegations surfaced and two months after he refused to plead guilty in exchange for a 10-year prison sentence, the 62 year old former pastor was sentenced to the Florida Department of Corrections on nine charges.
