false birth cert?

I recently found out (after going to the DMV) that I had two (2) social security numbers and they don't match up with what my parents put on my birth certificate!!!
I was born ...I thought in XXX-001 state; the first (1st) soc. sec. number is from XXX-002 state; the second is from XXX-003 state. Before I was 6 1/2, I resided with my grandparents in XXX-004 state. complicated, eh?
The SS numbers are--in NO way--connected with either state XXX-001, nor XXX-004. I NEVER lived (that I know of) in any other states but these!!!
My birth cert. was, just yesterday, torn up at the DMV and I'm SO humiliated!!!
Does anyone have any suggestions for me to find out where, exactly, I was born???
