The three brothers

Terry O’Neill and little brother Freddie only met for the first time since the case “a few years ago”.

Terry said: “He died about three months ago.

“He had testicular cancer, I think, I’m not quite sure.

“I’ve not been very close to the family but we met up a few years ago up in Rhyl.

“He had married and had a few kids, and then he remarried again.

“Only a few weeks ago one of the children of his first marriage got in touch.”

Terry, older brother Dennis, and Freddie, were put into the care of Newport Council on May 30, 1944, because their parents were unable to cope.

On July 5, Dennis and Terry went to live with Reginald and Esther Gough at remote Bank Farm, in Hope Valley, near Minsterley, Shropshire.

Freddie was housed with a Mr and Mrs Pickering who lived nearby.

By January 9 the following year Dennis was dead.
