5-year-old tortured, killed by her foster parents in Indore

A five-year-old girl was beaten and raped before being killed allegedly by her foster parents in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district on Thursday.

The victim, Shivani, was adopted by her uncle Rajesh Sengar about three months ago. Her parents stayed in Uttar Pradesh.

On Thursday night, neighbours saw Sengar carrying Shivani's body wrapped in a plastic mat. Suspicious, they alerted the police which took the body into their custody.

The police found that Shivani's body bore multiple injuries and burn marks. The post-mortem examination confirmed that the girl was sexually assaulted. She was even subjected to unnatural sex.

The police said that Shivani's uncle and aunt actively participated in the wanton torture. They have been booked under Sections 376, 377 and 302 of the IPC.

The girl's foster parents, however, claimed that they were innocent and that she died after complaining of severe pain in ear.
