Amy and Matthew Sweeney of Bristow, Va., charged with felony child abuse after runaway 8-year-old is found bruised, beaten
BRISTOW, Va. (WUSA)-- Prince William County Police say an 8-year old boy was found bruised and beaten after he ran away from his home and knocked on the door of a random neighbor's house. It is believed the boy was born in Russia and adopted to a family living in Bristow.
Ron Kramer, and his wife were up late Tuesday into Wednesday when they heard the ring at their door, and the found the boy.
It all happened at about 12:48 Wednesday morning on the 9200 block of Glen Meadow Lane in Bristow.
Kramer says he took the boy in and called police.
Hours later the boy's mother 41-year old Amy Sweeney called police to report her son missing from their home on the 12900 block of Ness Hollow court.
Investigators connected the dots and arrested the 41-year old along with her husband 39-year-old Matthew Sweeney. Both were charged with felony child abuse and released on $20,000 bond, each.
The boy remains in the care of child protective services. Police say the investigation continues, and the parents are expected to go before a judge to face the charges soon.
