Shannon Michelle Aumock was born to a sixteen-year-old mother, a victim of sexual assault, and was placed into foster care when she was 3. She was adopted shortly after by a Flagstaff family who later moved to Scottsdale. They relinquished her to CPS when she was 12 due to what they said were “uncontrollable behavioral issues”. When she went missing from her group home at age 16, she was not reported to the police as a missing person. Instead, Arizona Child Protective Services petitioned the court to relinquish their responsibility of her since she had run away so many times and could not find her.

She was found brutally murdered, but her body was not identified for 19 years since there was no missing persons report.
