CUMMING - A registered sex offender from Pennsylvania, living in Forsyth County, has been convicted of killing his girlfriend's 2-year-old son.

Christoper Brian Gilreath of Cumming was sentenced to life in prison in the death of Joshua Pinckney, according to reports in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The toddler was found dead in his bed in February 2009. An autopsy showed he died after suffering multiple blows to his head.

The boy's adoptive mother Miriam Pinckney entered a guilty plea earlier this month to child cruelty for failing to get aid for the child. She was sentenced to five years in jail.

Authorities say the 41-year-old Gilreath failed to register as a convicted sex offender when he came to Georgia.
