Lifelink international adoptions merged into Lutheran Social Services of Illinois

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- River forest-based Lutheran child and family services acquired Bensenville-based Lifelink International Adoption after Lifelink lost some of its state funding.

The non-profits' leaders say this is a great opportunity since they'll now have a larger network of parents, especially since most of their referrals come from families. This move allows Lifelink to focus on its affordable housing division for seniors and disabled adults and will work as a subsidiary of LCFS which does both domestic and international adoptions.

"As new countries open up abroad and in the future for international adoption, we'll have the resources to be able to go to those countries to be able to establish more adoptions in the future, so I think it positions us for future growth." said Pat Radley from Lifelink.

Adoptive families will still be able to contact lifelink at its current address and phone number at the Rockford location. Its support group and cultural events will still take place.
