ANNA MARIA --- Aghast neighbors on a quiet, affluent island street cried and held each other Friday morning as they tried to comprehend what compelled a husband and father of young twins to kill his wife then turn the gun on himself. Christmas lights and reindeer yard ornaments still twinkled and moved in the front yard of the home at 221 Oak Ave. in the City of Anna Maria where authorities say Leslie "Les"J. Young, 50, shot and killed his wife, Lisa, 40, then killed himself sometime before 9 am in the City of Anna Maria. .....

Several residents on Oak Avenue said they knew the family but couldn't explain what drove Les Young to murder. Most of the residents who watched from the street as authorities investigated declined to give their names. "They were really nice," said Bob Barlow, a neighbor down the street.
