VietNamNet Bridge – Through Adoptions from the Heart (AFH), movie star Angelina Jolie said that she would soon inform the Tam Binh orphanage of the situation of her adopted Vietnamese son. She cannot do this task now because she is busy.

According to Vietnamese law, foreigners who adopt Vietnamese children must report to the Vietnamese government on the situation and the condition of their children once or twice a year for the first three years.

Since Angelina Jolie brought Pax Thien to the US in late March 2007 she has not performed this duty.

Vu Duc Long, Head of the Adoption Agency of the Ministry of Justice, said that the agency had not received any information from Jolie’s representative. “That’s normal because she still has time,” Long said.

Director of Tam Binh orphanage Nguyen Van Trung said that babysitters who took care of Pax Thien before were looking for information in online newspapers every day. They are very glad to see that Pax Thien is so different now.

“I recently saw him playing in a studio in Hollywood and he looks strong,” a babysitter said.

Trung asked AFH to ask for information about Pax Thien from Jolie and the famous actress sent a message that she would soon contact Tam Binh orphanage.

If Jolie sends a report about Pax Thien to Vietnam, she will have to make three copies and send one to AFH, the International Adoption Agency, and the HCM City Department of Justice. Tam Binh orphanage also wants to have a similar report.

Trung said that Jolie’s adoption of a child from Tam Binh is very meaningful for the orphanage because since that event the orphanage has become famous.
