Man accused of molestation; family says he's innocent

public

A Bay area man remains in jail amid a controversy involving foster kids under his care.

Brian Starmer, of Oldsmar, was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation. The three foster children, all girls, now aged 12, 11 and 8, lived with the Starmer family before being shifted to two other households on the same street in Oldsmar.

That move occurred about a year ago after original accusations of child abuse against Starmer arose. Starmer, 40, was cleared of those accusations, according to his nephew William Daisey, but now the other two girls have made child abuse claims against Starmer.

"I guess they proved him innocent, I'm not a hundred percent sure,'' Daisey said. "But these two girls over here now are saying it and I don't know how they can say that a year after it's happened. How can you have any evidence of that?"

Bay News 9's crime guidelines prohibit naming the current foster family although they attest the girls have received counseling for the alleged molestations and that physical evidence does exist.

Still, Starmer's family proclaims his innocence.

"I think it's a load of garbage,'' Daisey said. "He would never, never lay a hand on a child ever."
