A former Regent University dean turned himself in Tuesday to face 13 felony sexual assault charges involving two girls .

Stephen L. McPherson, 39, is being held at the Chesapeake City J ail without bond, said Sgt. David Rosado, a sheriff’s office spokesman. McPherson arrived there shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday.

A grand jury indicted him last week on charges of object sexual penetration, forcible sodomy and taking indecent liberties with a child by a custodian. He is accused of assaulting the girls between May 2000 and May 2002 , according to indictments.

McPherson began work at Regent in Virginia Beach as a writing instructor and eventually became dean for student affairs. He resigned in 2007.

A bond hearing is scheduled for McPherson at 10 a.m. Friday.
