Great scandal on baby trafficking in Georgia

Some 14 members of maternity hospitals were arrested and 13 more are suspected of involvement of baby trafficking in Imerti district of Georgia.

Arrests were simultaneously conducted in maternity hospitals in Khoni, Tskhaltubo and Samtredia, Interior Ministry of Georgia reported. Head physicians of maternity hospitals in Khoni and Tskhaltubo were arrested.

According to the Interior Ministry, two groups of doctors in different maternity hospitals were selling newborn, making financial agreements with pregnant women in need of money or unwilling to keep children for any reason.
The police believed that some children could be sold abroad.
