Linda, Michael, and Jeffrey Garber

Linda, Michael and Jeffrey were placed with Judith and Robert Garber in 1979 at ages 9, 7 and 6. Despite repeated requests, Robert and Judith were not given detailed social histories or medical records on the children until 10 years post adoption when they received information on 1 child indicating that prior to placement intensive counseling had been recommended. Linda had been sexually abused by her biological father. A younger sibling was murdered for crying. Jeff and Linda attempted suicide, Michael plotted to kill his parents and all 3 were placed in psychiatric hospitals, Jeff and Linda probably permanently. Jeff and Linda's adoptions were disrupted.

The Garbers sued the placing agencies because the withheld records prevented the children from getting the care they needed.
