EAC Guatemala Mission Trips 2009

March 20th – 23rd; May 8th – 11th; June 12th – 15th; July 17th – 20th; August 14th – 17th, 2009

We have had a number of requests to assemble a mission trip to our orphanage. At this time we are not in need of any cosmetic assistance, but we do need financial and material assistance. Currently, we have a few families reaching out to their church groups, civic groups, school organizations, etc. to assist with this mission.

Through our initial fundraising campaign, in which we raised $25,000, we were able to secure the following:

Rent for the orphanage for one year.

Payment of attorney fees for licensing/permission to operate an orphanage. Registration with the Guatemalan government.

Purchased a refrigerator, microwave, television, a few cribs, toddler beds, tables and chairs.

The orphanage will be ready for babies/children as soon as we can provide the following:

Funding for staff –

Foster Moms - we will hire former foster moms to provide care for the children. They will be paid $350/month plus $50 of food to take home to their families. We will need 2 caregivers for every 5 children. We are hoping to care for 40 children (16 foster moms needed)

Security Guard/Maintenance – we need to hire 2 individuals to provide security and routine maintenance. They will need to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Beds – 14 additional baby cribs, bunk beds for older children. Pillows, Sheets, and Blankets

Food – baby food, powdered milk, beans, rice, cereals, crackers/cookies.

Dishes – bottles, cups, plates, bowls and utensils.

Medicine – aspirin, bandaids, first aid kits

Miscellaneous – Diapers, Washable Toys, Art Supplies, Chairs, Tables, Cleaning supplies
