Personal History of Victor Aikey
I was born in Tennessee and raised in Central Pennsylvania. My father was a public school teacher and my mother worked at the high school where I attended. I am the oldest of their three sons.
I did my undergraduate work at Penn State. I majored in Mathematics, and, after a short career as a computer programmer, I found my calling as a mathematics teacher. My teaching career started in Camden, New Jersey, in 1987.
I taught for ten years in New Jersey, where I met my wife. We were teaching in a middle school in Trenton. The second year I was with that district they laid off 100 teachers, including the two of us. On a whim, we packed up all of our stuff and moved to California.
After four years of teaching in California, I decided to change careers. I attended the Master's of Business Administration program at San Francisco State. To date (June 18, 2004) I have completed all of the coursework for my Master's Degree and expect to finish my thesis and graduate by the end of August, 2004.
Having a strong love for children, I have decided to pursue a career as an adoption coordinator. This career will allow me to bring relief to some of the world's poorest children. It will also give me the satisfaction of helping to build loving families. All in all, this is a great opportunity to help the most helpless of the world's needy.
