Bombay HC Refuses Plea To Divulge Natural Mother's Name

public

The Bombay High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition from a German national who sought the identity of his natural mother from an adoption home that had allegedly kidnapped him and given him away to a German couple.

He said he had been handed over at the behest of Pratap Pawar, brother of NCP chief Sharad Pawar. The court said there was no substance in the allegations.

Hon'ble Justices S.S. Parkar and Vijaya Tahilramani ruled that Kusumbai Motichand Mahila Seva Gram, the home from where Dohle was adopted, could not be asked to reveal the identity of his mother, in keeping with a Supreme Court ruling, as he had been given in adoption to the German couple in 1973. Arun Dohle alleged that he was given in adoption by the institute to a German couple at the behest of Pratap Pawar. He claimed that Micheal and Gertrude Dohle had adopted him when they were guests at Pawar's house and later migrated to Germany.

Dohle had earlier filed a complaint with the police, alleging that he was kidnapped 30 years ago by the home. As he did not receive any response, he filed a petition in court.
