FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - A child was found dead inside his mother's Forsyth County home Friday. Now, the 2-year-old's death is under investigation.
The 2-year-old child died Friday and the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office says the circumstances surrounding the boy's death are suspicious.
The child's mother called 911 just after 7:00 a.m. Friday. When deputies arrived at the home on Catalina Drive in Cumming, the child was already dead.
The mother's boyfriend, 39-year-old Christopher Brian Gilreath, was taken into custody on the unrelated charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of the Georgia sex offender registry. It is believed that Gilreath is a sex offender in Pennsylvania.
The dead child was adopted. A sibling in the home is about the same age. A neighbor said DFCS took the sibling from the home Friday morning.
The child's body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab to determine how he died.
