Danny and Kathy Blackburn want to move from North Vernon to the Shelbyville area but some of their potential neighbors object to the Blackburn children.

They have 28.``I think that's a little much,'' says Mary Sigman, who planned to make her objection formally Tuesday night to the Shelby County Board of Zoning Appeals in this community just southeast of Indianapolis. ``This is a community that I've always lived in and I haven't had that many neighbors,'' she said Monday.

Sigman said others will join her in the objection. .

North Vernon is about 35 miles further southeast. The Blackburns, former Christian missionaries in Haiti, have lived in an old schoolhouse there with the 28 Haitian children for the past three years. They learned late last year that their lease on the building would not be renewed when it expires at the end of this month, so they have to move.

So Indiana's largest family is hoping to move into the former Hendricks Township School about halfway between Shelbyville and Franklin. The building is in sad shape, but East Columbus United Methodist Church is trying to raise the $115,000 to buy the old school building and make it livable for the Blackburns.
