Foster Mother Charged In Toddler's Death

A foster mother is facing numerous charges in the death of a 2-year-old child.

Carol Ann Poole, 40, of Canton, was arraigned for the death of her 2-year-old foster child Allison Newman, who died on Sept. 22 from traumatic head injury, according to police.

Poole is charged with felony murder, punishable by up to life in prison without parole, involuntary manslaughter, a 15-year felony, and child abuse in the first degree, a 15-year felony, according to a Canton police news release.

Bond was denied and Poole will be turned over to the Wayne County Jail.

A preliminary exam is scheduled for Nov. 8.
