Man gets 2 years for failing childAn Anchorage man was sentenced Friday to two years in prison, with one year suspended, for failing to protect a 2-year-old foster child his wife tortured and killed last year. Michael Reinhold pleaded no contest to criminally negligent homicide in September. His attorney, Cynthia Strout, said he was released last month after serving nearly a year in custody. Reinhold was originally charged with manslaughter in the December death of Janessa Aguirre. His wife, Marcias Reinhold, was accused of striking Janessa's head on a concrete garage floor, and burning her face with a hair dryer. She was originally charged with first-degree murder and has pleaded no contest to second-degree murder. She will be sentenced Jan. 15. Michael Reinhold didn't physically harm Janessa but he should have known what was going on and protected her, assistant district attorney Roger Rom said. Superior Court Judge Milton Souter also sentenced Michael Reinhold to five years probation.
