McMINNVILLE -- A McMinnville woman was being held Wednesday, accused of beating her 13-year-old daughter with a baseball bat. Anna T. Rufo, 66, was being held in the Yamhill County Jail on $150,000 bail. She was accused of second-degree assault, a Class B felony. Under Oregon law, second-degree assault falls under Measure 11 guidelines and carries a mandatory sentence on conviction. Sheriff Jack Crabtree said deputies became aware of the alleged beating after the girl was treated at school for injuries to her arms and legs. Crabtree said McMinnville School District officials contacted a physician and referred the case to deputies. Rufo's arraignment on the charges in Yamhill County Circuit Court had not yet been scheduled.
