public

CORPUS CHRISTI — The trial of Larry Overton, who is charged with capital murder in the death of his 4-year-old foster son, has been delayed until early next year.

On Monday morning, 214th District Judge Jose Longoria granted defense attorney Lisa Harris’ motion for a continuance and rescheduled the trial for Jan 14.

Overton is charged in the Oct. 3, 2006, death of Andrew Burd, who he was in the process of adopting. The boy died after drinking a mixture of water and Cajun spices.

Overton’s wife, Hannah, was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced earlier this month to life in prison without parole.
