Couple charged with endangering disabled son

public

ALFRED - A woman repeatedly beat her 4-year-old disabled son, cut his ear with scissors and threatened to cut out his tongue before turning to a priest with a warning that "you have to take him or I will kill him," prosecutor Terry Parker said.

The child, who was born with one arm and was adopted in Russia, was placed in protective custody Thursday after his mother, Jane Cochran, 43, was charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Cochran's husband, Timothy, an associate professor of electrical engineering technology at Alfred State College, also was charged with endangering the boy.      - Associated Press
